So much more!

Acts 3

He wanted gold, money and all the bling that could help him buy his necessities and it is a justifiable yearning. This man was crippled since birth and his life circulated around begging and I'm pretty damn sure he measured his success or achievements by how much donations he managed to receive that day and the more he git the happier he was. It was his story, begging and you can bet he prayed to God for more donations everyday (if he did pray that is), his favour from God was measured in gold currency, the more he got the better he felt about himself and his situation and I bet the more he felt favoured by God. If I could add some science I would say his serotonin, dopamine, endorphin and all the happy hormones were triggered by the material things he received which I again say is totally justifiable because he got to eat and have clothes and provide his "basic needs".

The interesting thing that leaves my mouth agape is how God had more plans for this guy than just sufficient donations to provide basic needs. He had so much more for this guy! And say all you want but nothing can surpass the restoration of function in his extremities, the restoration of youth and the ability to go as far as he wanted and ever dreamed he could. No amount of gold nor silver could match that! And this reminds me how often we dream and want for things that are merely just "met needs" when our God, our Heavenly Father has so much more in store for us than all the materialistic things we can ever wish for. Our God loves us and bought us at such high a price, and with that I refuse to believe that when he talks of blessing he means money, education, big houses and properties, I refuse to settle for the belief that we can gauge how blessed we are based on what we have in our bank accounts when all that is just earthly things that will perish anyway. I am for the notion that God gives us the imperishable.

In this scripture we see that he gave the man ability and strength and he was happily jumping up and down praising God. That is joy, that is fulfilment! He could have given Peter and John millions worth of gold or silver to give the man but in all his wisdom, his omniscience he knew that it would have completed only as much and would have perished at the end of the day so he gave the man the imperishable! . . .I was debating with myself the other day, arguing that earthly riches are part of God's blessing and it is not wrong (to some extent) to say that if we have these riches we are blessed, i mean look at Job and all the people who had God's heart. They were thriving and filthy rich, but here is where the trick is:

Look at Job, he had all that a man would need to be called rich and more, he was super rich but i also notice that in all that richness he was blessed with the reverence for God (the imperishable) so much that all of that meant nothing to Him. And remember Matthew 6 vs 33  says

"seek first the Kingdom of God and all these things shall be added unto you"
and that is where the blessing is at! It is not in the "things" but in having the kingdom within you, being in it, having it and dwelling in it so much that we are one with it and nothing else matters (because nothing does trust me). That is what Christ died for, for us to have access to this Kingdom and everything in it. Not the money or the earthly wealth. . he died for so much more than gold and silver and man made standards. He died for so much more that earthly qualifications and man made status. He died for us to have a relationship with the Kingdom, for us to let go of everything on earth, for us to have control over our emotions, intellect and everything in us to not let the world dictate to us. He died for us to conquer this world. Paul says it in Philippians 3:8
"What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage that I may gain Christ"

If you still pray for money and anything along earthly riches more than anything else; ask yourself this question; with God being the creator of everything, the universe, spirits and all supernatural things why would he show his love for us by giving us perishable riches?? He wants to give us the imperishable and the sooner we realise that the better. When all is gone and the world is rolled back, what will you count as  your blessing?

Let it be the kingdom!
